Earth Hour

Earlier tonight, I signed up to participate in Earth Hour, a global cooperative event planned for Saturday night, March 29, 2008 at 8:00 p.m.

As a socially responsible citizen of Planet Earth, I will join citizens throughout the world in a 60-minute blackout of electricity.

Last year, on March 31, 2007, 2.2 million residents and 2,100 businesses in Sydney, Australia went dark, turning off lights and all non-essential appliances. By reducing energy usage in one hour, the city's consumption fell by 10.2 percent, or the equivalent of carbon produced by 48,000 cars in one year.

If you want to join this effort, you can sign up here.
